WHAT DO I NEED TO INTERN OR APPLY FOR A JOB?

  • Student Visa (highly recommended to apply for it from the country of origin, before coming to Spain).
  • TIE: Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero (to be obtained at a Foreigners Office or at a Police Station once the visa has been obtained)*.
  • NUSS: Número Único de la Seguridad Social (to be requested telematically** or at a Social Security Office, and it is necessary to provide the TIE or, if applicable, the receipt of the application for the same. It is advisable to apply for the NUSS as soon as possible and not to wait to be the candidate selected by a company since the delay in obtaining it -a maximum of 45 days- may discourage the incorporation).

* In the case of students from European Union countries, a European Union Citizen Registration Certificate is required instead.

** A digital certificate is required

LABOR LEGAL FRAMEWORK FORINTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Curricular internships:

•Mandatory to finish your studies
•Included  in Degrees(4thcourse, 3rdcourseifinternationalexperience) and some Official Masters
•Foreigner Identity Card (TIE) is required*
•Social Security Number(NUSS) is required

Extracurricular internships:

•Foreigner Identity Card (TIE) is required*
•Social Security Number (NUSS) is required
•If the internship equals or exceeds 20 hours per week, an Authorization to carry out internships must be requested by the company to the Public Administration (EX-04form; time to resolution: 30 days)

Employment contract:

•Only in case of official studies
•Foreigner Identity Card (TIE) is required*
•Social Security Number (NUSS) is required
•Maximum30 hours per week, compatible with your studies
•No connection between job content and studies required

* For students from European Union countries, EU Citizen Registration Certificate is required instead.

Contract for the professional practice:

•An Authorization to carry out internships must be requested by the company to the Public Administration (EX-04form; time to resolution: 30 days)
•Not compatible with prior longer-than-3-moths extracurricular internships
•Minimum of 6 months and maximum of 12 months (9 months if you already had 3 months of extracurricular internships)

Permanent contract**:

•An Initial work permit must be requested by the company to the Public Administration (EX-03 form; to be requested 60 days before or 90 days after the expiration date of the student visa; time tore solution: 5-6 months)

Additional permits**:

•Only in case of official studies, residence permit for the purpose of job seeking and entrepreneurship (EX-01form; to be requestedbythestudent60 daysbeforeor90 days after the expiration date of the student visa; time to resolution: 20 days)

** Does not apply to students from EU countries.
