At ESIC we try every day to build an inclusive training centre, in which everyone has equal opportunities in both studies and employment, thus promoting a society of equity without discrimination towards any group.

Our school aims to be a mirror of the labour market by offering training and socio-laboural inclusion to everybody and especially those who because of their gender, race, origin, religion or functional diversity (accredited as equal or superior to 33%) are being discriminated against.

Inclusion in ESIC classrooms is a reality. Our learning spaces constitute a real environment where students, teachers and staff are a reflection of our society in which respect and coexistence prevail.

Diverse Classrooms-Diverse Companies: At ESIC we instil a culture of diversity in everyone, regardless of whether they have functional diversity or have suffered discrimination. To this end, we develop actions that facilitate access to training, the acquisition of skills and the promotion of employment for all groups.

For this reason, ESIC has set up the DUE (Diversity University-Company) Diversity Project which articulates an organisational structure, procedures, policies and adequate resources to develop action plans every year that are integrated into the School's Quality Policy. The project, which is national in scope, is directed by the General Secretary of ESIC who is responsible for its monitoring, review and proposals for improvement.

Our Technical Unit for Diversity aims to provide support to all the people who are part of the project. This team will carry out actions at a national level aimed at fulfilling the following objectives:

  • Awareness and training sessions
  • Welcome and orientation procedures for newcomers
  • Scholarships and grants
  • Accessibility (Physical and Technological)
  • Employability support for people from all groups
  • Promote socially responsible purchasing at ESIC
  • Labour guidance and intermediation actions (internship and career service)
  • Actions to promote entrepreneurship
  • People who are part of the diversity group can request any assistance from the Technical Unit for Diversity (diversidad@esic.edu), to include physical and technical as well as academic. This unit will coordinate the necessary actions to provide solutions to specific needs with all areas/departments of ESIC.

The ESIC Quality System includes general policy relating to support services for students with disabilities that articulates the specific actions to be developed in support of the Diversity Project; such as, attention, training and complementary services for people with disabilities.

For more information about resources and services on each ESIC campus, visit the ESIC University Guide.

The Technical Unit for Diversity guarantees compliance with the obligation to maintain professional secrecy and the right to personal data protection in accordance with the Organic Law on Personal Data Protection.

Objectives

Facilitate access to studies for students who present some functional diversity.

Guarantee in the university community the inclusion and active participation of students who have some type of functional diversity.

Offer information, training and support to the different groups of the project.

Address the needs of students who are functionally diverse in an individualised manor.

Make academic adjustments.

Guarantee accessibility within ESIC.

Collaborate with internal and external entities to improve the attention of students who present functional diversity.

Attend to the material and personal needs that students with functional diversity present in the university.

Promote awareness campaigns and collaborate in those organized by other entities.

DISABILITY

The prescription of curricular adaptations to guarantee equal opportunities is carried out under the provisions of Law 51/2003 on Equal Opportunities, Non-Discrimination and Universal Accessibility, of Organic Law 4/2007 which modifies Organic Law 6/2001 on Universities, of Royal Decree 1791/2010 on the Statute of University Students, and the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (together with Law 26/2011 on the normative adaptation to the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities), among others, governed by the principles of equal opportunities, standardization and inclusion.

Even if you do not have a certificate of disability, if you have some kind of Special Educational Needs (SEN) you can request information, advice and support, so that the Diversity Technical Unit can analyse which curricular adaptations can best suit your needs. SEN may derive from a situation that affects the state of health and interrupts the habitual performance of academic obligations, from intellectual capacities different from the rest of the students to Specific Learning Disorders (such as dyslexia, dyscalculia or dysorthography) among others, always within the functioning academic environment.

Students with special educational needs may request the necessary support and adaptations from the Diversity Technical Unit at diversidad@esic.edu. The Unit will open a file with the information provided by the student on the necessary adaptations. The objective of this file is to identify, with the student, the adaptations, both academic and in terms of resources, that are needed and required by law, as well as those that ESIC may add so that the student can successfully develop in their training and remain at the ESIC campus.

See Special Educational Needs Adaptations Form.
