Seville, with a population of around 700.000, is the capital of the Autonomous Community of Andalucía. Its port, 80km from the Atlantic Ocean, is the only river port in Spain, owing to the fact that the Guadalquivir River is navigable from its mouth at Sanlucar de Barrameda to the Hispanic capital.
The official currency is the euro (€) and the official language is Spanish.
You can get to and around the city in various ways.
Seville has a Mediterranean climate, with variable rainfall, extremely hot, dry summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is 18.6°C, one of the highest in Europe. January is the coldest month, with an average minimum temperature of 5.2°C and July the hottest, with an average maximum temperature of 36.3°C. However, temperatures higher than 45°C are reached several times per year.
