Preparatory Spanish for University Studies
Our Preparatory Spanish courses are specially designed for students who intend to study at a Spanish university and need to improve their linguistic skills in preparation for Spanish academic life.
200-hour course
Objectives:
This course is designed for students with an advanced level of Spanish (B2) who wish to perfect their knowledge of Spanish language and culture as a prelude to entering Spanish university life.
Level of Spanish required: B2
Level of Spanish to be attained by the end of the course: C1
Course Description:
The course aims to enhance reading comprehension of academic texts, the ability to maintain a conversation in a business context, and oral comprehension and expression in an academic environment. The program is designed to immerse students in situations requiring specialized academic communication. Authentic texts are used in order to facilitate realistic language learning and use. The course methodology is based on approaching tasks in the correct manner and on simulations.
Advanced Spanish
By the end of this course, students will be capable of understanding a wide variety of longer texts to the required standard, and recognize implicit meaning. They will be able to express themselves fluently and spontaneously, without too much obvious searching for the appropriate expression. They will use language flexibly and effectively for social interaction, and in particular for academic and professional purposes. Students will be able to produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, demonstrating correct usage of techniques relating to organization, connectors and textual cohesion.

Objectives:
This course is designed for students at the threshold of level B1 in Spanish who wish to perfect their knowledge of Spanish language and culture as a prelude to entering Spanish university life.

Level of Spanish to be attained by the end of the course: C1
Course Description:
The course aims to enhance reading comprehension of academic texts, the ability to maintain a conversation in a business context, and oral comprehension and expression in an academic environment. The program is designed to immerse students in situations requiring specialized academic communication. Authentic texts are used in order to facilitate realistic language learning and use. The course methodology is based on approaching tasks in the correct manner and on simulations.
The course is divided into two sections:
Section 1: Intermediate Spanish
In the second section of this course, students will learn to assimilate the main ideas of complex texts about both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions within their field of specialization. They will come to interact with native speakers with the required degree of fluency and ease, so that they communicate without obvious effort. They will be able to produce clear, detailed text on a variety of subjects and explain a view point on a topical issue, giving the pros and cons of different positions.
Section 2: Advanced Spanish
By the end of this course, students will be capable of understanding a wide variety of longer texts to the required standard, and recognize implicit meaning. They will be able to express themselves fluently and spontaneously, without too much obvious searching for the appropriate expression. They will use language flexibly and effectively for social interaction, and in particular for academic and professional purposes. This course is designed for students with a basic level of Spanish who wish to reach the standard required for attendance at a Spanish-language university. (C1)

Level of Spanish to be attained by the end of the course: C1
Course Description:
The course aims to enhance reading comprehension of technical texts, the ability to maintain a conversation in a business context, and oral comprehension and expression in an academic environment. The program is designed to immerse students in situations requiring specialized academic communication. Authentic texts are used in order to facilitate realistic language learning and use. The course methodology is based on approaching tasks in the correct manner and on simulations.
The course is divided into three sections:
Section 1: Basic Spanish
In this first section students will learn to assimilate the main points of straightforward texts, covering leisure, work and in particular, academic situations. They will produce simple but coherent pieces of writing about topics which are familiar or of personal interest to them. Eventually they will also be able to describe experiences, events, dreams and ambitions, and briefly justify opinions or explain plans.
Section 2: Intermediate Spanish
In the second section of this course, students will learn to assimilate the main ideas of complex texts about both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions within their field of specialization. They will come to interact with native speakers with the required degree of fluency and ease, so that they communicate without obvious effort.
